Joseph Kosuth

Lives and works in New York and Venice. The artist is one of the pioneers of Conceptual art and installation art, initiating language based works and appropriation strategies in the 1960s. His work has consistently explored the production and role of language and meaning within art. Besides numerous museum exhibitions, public commissions and publications, Joseph Kosuth’s œuvre was shown at seven Documentas and eight Venice Biennales –he represented Hungaria at the Venice Biennale in 1993.
