11,000 Strings | أحد عشر ألف وتر
Autumn 2026 or Spring 2027 (TBD), United Arab Emirates
A piece of almost ridiculous scale and complexity. The effect is awe-inspiring.— The New York Times - October 4, 2025
A microtonal universe for 50 pianos
Written for 50 microtonally tuned pianos and chamber orchestra, 11,000 Strings unfolds as an immersive sonic environment.
Pianists are positioned around the audience, creating a spatial composition where sound moves through the space — from dense sonic masses to almost imperceptible tonal textures.
The work redefines the experience of listening as something physical, collective, and spatial. It expands the possibilities of musical perception and challenges traditional listening formats.
Microtonality refers to musical intervals beyond the standard tuning of Western music, allowing for a richer and more complex spectrum of sound.
Since its premiere in 2023, 11,000 Strings has been presented at major international venues and festivals, including Wien Modern, Holland Festival, Park Avenue Armory New York, and the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music in Hangzhou, and has been widely covered in international media such as The New York Times, Financial Times, and The Wall Street Journal.

A site-specific exhibition in dialogue with the performance
The exhibition explores unrealized visions of utopian cities — suspended between ambition and impossibility.
Developed in collaboration with the MAK — Museum of Applied Arts, Vienna — it brings together works from its modern and contemporary collection alongside a curated selection of contemporary artists.
Conceived as an extension of the musical work, the exhibition creates a shared environment where visual art, architecture, and sound intersect.
Curated by Daria Aksenova and Sam Smith, it brings together emerging and established artists.
