Mikhail Romadin
Moscow, 1940-2012Mikhail Romadin was a visual artist and a film designer, born in Moscow and later lived between Moscow, Monaco, Paris, Texas and New York. He is known for his unique style, which combined surrealism, metaphysics, and elements of science fiction. One of Romadin’s most iconic work was a full visual set for Andrei Tarkovsky’s Solaris. Among other notable scenes of the movie is a concept of the legendary “Mirror Room” aboard the space station.
Romadin’s works were exhibited in Russia and internationally, and his style remains one of the most prominent examples of the artistic avant-garde of the second half of the 20th century.
