The works from the series Dangerous Beauty focus on the impermanence of our existence- how vulnerable, eccentric, awkward, and entangled we are in relation to nature and architecture but at same time how much we can inspire each other to be more resilient, reflective and responsive to the desires coming from within, a strong revolutionary spirit and potentiality to confront the lingering systems of power and oppression.

These works in the exhibition reveal Todorova’s profound interest in architecture, living structures and the way things are built from within. With heightened color palette, the paintings are like made and distilled in a state of outburst, fire, ecstasy or explosion. The wobbling, nervous and impulsive lines in the mark-making are as if trying to locate the real borders and the exact point in which body and reality intersect. Architecture moves in and out and reproduces itself within the body. It gets under the body’s skin, starts to mutate, drowning in transparencies, dilutions and formations and then coming back to the surface, and back to nature. Architecture is raging, expanding, gestures bouncing in and out of the containers of the canvas, trying to capture the essence of breathing, drawing, chanting, dancing, honoring our scale as humans. The body is on alert to act upon and to discover. No edges, no walls, rather like constellations of gestures or spirals creating new visions in contrast to the expanding forces that transcend us by far.
